In a statement shared publicly, McKay’s family expressed heartbreak and devastation. “Last night my beautiful son was murdered,” his parent wrote. “For no reason, wrong place, wrong time—they took my son. However, his humble spirit will live on. My heart is broken into a million pieces. Please keep me and my family in your prayers. He was a full-time MTA worker, driving the bus for a living. A great man, he loved the Lord with all his heart.”

The Queens community continues to mourn McKay’s death as police actively investigate the shooting.
